Ten Set for $150,000 Stars and Stripes Stakes
This Saturday at Arlington Park, the $150,000 Stars and Stripes Stakes has drawn a competitive field of ten. The Grade 3 race will be contested at a mile and a half on the turf.
Suntracer has been installed as the 3-1 morning line favorite and will break from post position three. Trained by Chris Block, the six-year-old chestnut son Kitten's Joy will be ridden by Juliam Leparoux in search of his first win of the year. Last year, he was second in the Stars And Stripes Stakes and will try to improve off of that. He was last seen finishing second by a head in the Louisville Handicap.
Moro Tap going for first stakes win
Moro Tap, 5-1 on the morning line for Michael Maker, will break from the inside in the field of ten. He will have Victor Espinoza in the irons replacing the injured Rosie Napravnik. He turned in his best performance from five starts this year with a third place finish in the Louisville Handicap last time out. A gray son of Tapit, Moro Tap has three career wins and is looking for his first stakes win.
The Pizza Man a top threat
Also in the field is The Pizza Man, installed at 7-2 on the morning line. Trained by Roger Brueggemann, the bay gelded son of English Channel will have Florent Geroux in the irons. Third in the 2013 running of the Stars and Stripes, he will be making only his second start of the year. Last time out, he won the Black Tie Affair Handicap and has won ten of his fifteen career starts.
