My Miss Aurelia Returns in the $100,000 Shine Again Stakes
On Monday at Saratoga, the $100,000 Shine Again Stakes has attracted a top quality field of six fillies and mares including former champion juvenile filly My Miss Aurelia. The race will be contested at seven furlongs on the main track and is named in honor of Shine Again, a sprint mare who earned her biggest victories at the Spa.
My Miss Aurelia has been tabbed at 2-1 in the morning line and will be making her first start for Todd Pletcher and John Velazquez. Bred and owned by Stonestreet Stables, the five-year-old daughter of Smart Strike took home an Eclipse Award in 2011 after capping off her undefeated juvenile season with a win in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies. She has been away from the races since a third-place finish in March of 2013 in the Azeri Stakes (G3) at Oaklawn Park.
Grace Hall a formidable threat for Bill Mott
Grace Hall is another Grade 1 winner in the field and she is 9-5 on the morning line for trainer Bill Mott. She returned off of a year-long layoff this year and while she has yet to win from two outings, she has been second in both starts against graded stakes company. Joel Rosario remains aboard and the pair will break from post position two. She won the Spinaway Stakes (G1) at Saratoga as a juvenile.
Better Lucky trying to transition from turf
From the outside post is Better Lucky, 6-1 on the morning line for Tom Albertrani. Javier Castellano will be aboard carrying the colors of Godolphin Racing. The multiple Grade 1 winner has been primarily successful on turf and has yet to win on a fast dirt track. She was last seen finishing eighth in the Just a Game (G1) at Belmont and is looking for her first win of the year.
