On Saturday at Aqueduct, the featured race is the 42nd edition of the $100,000 Busanda Stakes. Restricted to three-year-old fillies, the mile and seventy yard contest has drawn a field of six.
The morning line favorite at odds of 7-5 is Hopefaithjoy for trainer Todd Pletcher. Purchased for $270,000 as a yearling, the bay filly is from the first crop of champion Lookin at Lucky. After a third-place finish in her debut, she broke her maiden as the favorite in her second career start. She was fourth last time out in the Rags to Riches Stakes and all three fillies that finished ahead of her have come back to win next out. Jose Ortiz will be aboard and they will break from the rail.
Liberty Island trying open company for the first time
Liberty Island has been installed as the second choice at odds of 5-2 on the morning line. Trained by Dominick Schettino, the gray daughter of Harlem Rocker was purchased as a juvenile for $135,000. She broke her maiden against restricted New York-bred competition in her debut last time out and will be taking on stakes company for the first time. She has had consecutive bullet workouts since that race and will have Junior Alvarado in the irons from post four.
Bonnet Plume making stakes debut after maiden win
Also in the field at morning line odds of 3-1 is Bonnet Plume for trainer Tom Albertrani. A dark bay daughter of Bernardini, she will be carrying the colors of Godolphin Racing. She is making her first start against winners after breaking her maiden emphatically in her third career start. She has had a pair of workouts since that effort. Dylan Davis, aboard for her win last out, will remain aboard from the outside post.
