Hark-Knocking Veterans Clash in $350,000 De Francis Dash
The $350,000 De Francis Memorial Dash November 15 at Laurel Park is, as usual, a great betting race with ten talented sprinters lined up to contest the six furlong event on the main track.
New York shipper Dads Caps is the 5/2 morning line favorite for trainer Rudy Rodriquez after finishing second September 27 in the Grade 1 Vosburgh in his last start. Dads Caps has just one win in seven starts in 2014, but the four year-old son of Discreet Cat made the lone victory stand out with a Grade 1 break-through in the Carter Handicap in April. Dads Caps has placed in multiple graded stakes races bankrolling over $630,000.
Happy My Way tries to bounce back
At 7/2 Happy My Way will have to overcome breaking from the rail and rebound from a poor performance in the Vosburgh where Joseph Oresno trained colt ran sixth. Before that effort, Happy My Way had finished in the exacta in six straight starts including a second place finish in the Grade 1 Vanderbilt at Saratoga and a victory in the Grade 3 Maryland Sprint Handicap at Pimlico. Veteran jockey Joe Bravo has the call on Happy My Way.
Bern Identity always in the mix
Bern Identity (9/2) won three straight minor stakes races before finishing third last out in the Grade 3 Phoenix Stakes at Keeneland. The Kelly Breen trainee has six wins in eleven career starts for earnings over $800,000. Bern Identity was a grade 2 winner as a two year-old capturing the Sanford Stakes.
