On Friday at Keeneland, the featured race is the 18th edition of the $100,000 Buffalo Trace Franklin County Stakes. Scheduled to be run at five and a half furlongs on the turf, the race has drawn a full field of fourteen fillies and mares with two additional on the also-eligible list.

Free as a Bird has been installed as the co-favorite on the morning line at odds of 4-1. Trained by Ian Wilkes, the five-year-old daughter of Hard Spun has won her last four races, all against stakes competition. She has seven total wins to her credit from twenty starts and was second over the Keeneland turf in the spring. Regular rider Joel Rosario will be aboard and they will break from post twelve.

Ageless a prior winner over Keeneland turf

Ageless, trained by Arnaud Delacour, shares the favoritism at morning line odds of 4-1. The five-year-old mare, a daughter of Successful Appeal, has won three of her five starts this year including the Giants Causeway Stakes at Keeneland in April. She was last seen finishing third in the Presque Isle Masters (G2) over synthetics. She has had a bullet workout since her last race and will have Julian Leparoux aboard from post two.

Macaroon looking for first stakes win

Also in the field at morning line odds of 15-1 is Macaroon, a longshot for trainer Kiaran McLaughlin. Bred and owned by Darley Stable, the three-year-old daughter of Tapit is out of the graded stakes winning Deputy Minister mare, Fast Cookie. She has won three of her eight starts and was last seen defeating optional claiming competition by a neck at Saratoga. Luis Saez has the mount and they will break from post six.
